Hello everybody,
Starting after the Civil War and becoming an official national holiday more than 100 years later in 1971, Memorial Day is an American holiday observed on the last Monday in May honoring those who have died while serving in the military.
Many people choose to visit cemeteries to remember those who are no longer with us on this day, while you may also see many people wearing a symbolic red poppy in remembrance of those who have fallen in war.
Because Memorial Day also unofficially marks the beginning of summer, many like to have a cookout, spend extra time with family and friends, or even take a nice trip.
Thanks and have a great Memorial Day,
