Movies, Math, and More Monday, September 7

Hello everybody, and welcome to Movies, Math, and More Monday!

First, Jennifer tells us about Disney’s Stargirl, a movie that shows how complicated friendship can be.

Next, Andy talks about the book 33 Minutes, which is a great story about the way middle school friendships can change.

Bonus math questions. Get an extra point each for answering these questions:

• Since he turned 11, Sam makes an average of 4 new friends a year. At that pace, how many friends will Sam have when he is 75?

• Your friend Stargirl eats ½ of a pizza. Later, she eats 1/3 of the remaining pizza. Using fractions, how much of the total pizza is left?
